Although we can handle a wide range of steel/metal repairs, many people look to us to help them with repairs to their vehicles. From cracks in your exhaust manifold and holes in your muffler to dented or rusted bodywork, we provide a practical, cost-effective solution to get your vehicle back on the road as quickly (and safely) as possible.
Why you shouldn’t DIY metal repair
Sometimes people decide to try an over-the-counter epoxy-based repair putty or similar kit, while others go straight for the welding gun. For a professional treatment that is guaranteed to solve your steel or metal repair issue once and for all, we suggest you go straight for the repair specialists.
While epoxy resin can help with some minor repairs, many people find that it just doesn’t work for their situation. In addition, it is often difficult to access the parts of the metal you need to work on – especially with a vehicle – and the necessary heating to harden the resin is impossible. We have all the necessary equipment to reach every nook and cranny of your vehicle and repair holes and cracks properly first time.
The effectiveness of welding also depends on the skill and knowledge of the welder. For example, we know exactly how much of the rusted metal edges around a hole we need to cut away when patching to avoid storing up problems for later on. We also have all the tools needed for forming, bending, softening, cutting and filing metal without breaking or distorting the material further, causing further expense and delays. Our experience tells us things like the thickness (gauge) of steel needed for each case and that we need to treat MS (mild steel), as found on older vehicles, very differently to HS (High-Strength Steel). We can perfectly mould metal to contours if needed, to give an exceptional finish to your repair.
